The Pen That Never Runs Out Of Ink

The Pen That Never Runs Out Of Ink :) COOOOOOL

By the time we learned how to draw on paper, we have always relied on some of the basic writing tools such as a pencil and a pen to transmit our thoughts to paper.

If not all, most people around the world uses pencil or pen as a writing device. Artists, designers and architects use pencil to draw, sketch and make their masterpieces, while office workers, students, and writers uses ink and pen to write down their thoughts in words on paper.

The pencil or the pen has become a necessity which people uses everyday. This is the reason why artists buy enough pencils so that every time they exhaust one pencil, they have another one to use, and offices buy enough pens to replace those with no more ink.

Now, what if there is a writing tool that would never run out of ink and will virtually last forever? This would definitely beat buying loads of pen and pencil supplies that would take up space on your storage areas.

They call this The Inkless Metal Pen. Now maybe you're asking - 'Why is it called the Inkless Metal Pen if it never runs out of ink', well because it actually does not write with ink and it does not need ink to write. It has a special metal alloy tip that does the writing. Like graphite lead on pencil, the special metal alloy tip on this pen transfers small amounts of metal on the writing surface. Unlike pencil though, the metal that is transferred is so tiny that it would last for a very long time, maybe even for a lifetime. It is like having a pen that never runs out of ink.

Unlike pencils, this pen never dulls and does not need sharpening. It can even write upside down and unlike pens, it would never leak or smear, and definitely won't run out of ink.

This is a very nice tool for artists, designers or architects that frequently draws and always need a sharp pencil. The mark it makes is permanent though so you won't be able to erase it with rubber eraser but then, most of the good artists I know never erases a drawing.

A cap is also no longer needed since it does not use liquid ink, and pen caps usually get lost anyway.

Another good thing about the design of this pen is that it can write on most common writing surfaces.

There is also no special angle or special writing position for this pen to work. You may even use the constrained ball attachment on this to draw straight lines with ease.

Modern Aviation

Modern Aviation :)

Quest for hybrid machine which could perform both helicopter and aircraft role was long and dates back to the Cold War. V-22 pushed forward limits of human airplane design. It is a crown jewel of hard work and high people and material cost. This machine can perform landing and take-off from very small and nasty places in which standard transport airplanes can only perform parachute drops. Amongst all it can reach up to 560 km/h in flight, carry 27 tons of cargo and reach up to 7,900 meters of height. United States Army had been given excellent machine.

Antonov An-225

Mriya (Dream) is one of a kind airplane. Truly remarkable piece of equipment, this airplane is big enough to carry spaceship modules and aircrafts. The worlds heaviest fixed wing aircraft this machine will surely catch your attention while flying by due to its size and beautiful shape. Unfortunately only one aircraft has been completed so far due to the dissolution of Soviet Union. As it can carry 640 tons of cargo with 850 km/h and 4,000 km of range this aircraft is constantly in service since many companies require heavy-load cargo being delivered around the globe. It should be noted that this aircraft require 3,500 meters of airstrip to take off.

Boeing AH-64 Apache

Vietnam war proved the point that combat helicopters are due to prove their effectiveness in the battle. From AH-1 Cobra to AH-64 Apache it was a long road of development. Main purpose of this interesting helicopter is tank and vehicle hunt, forward observe, gunship for close support etc. Armed with 30mm cannon and assorted missiles/rockets this helicopter is also well known for its strength and sturdiness, as well as silent approach (lesson learned from UH-1 Huey). Used in many conflicts through the last century this helicopter with 300 km/h speed and combat radius of 480 km will remain in the United States Army as well as in certain other armies around the globe.

Kamov Ka-52

The Alligator is direct descendant of Crocodile Mi-24 Hind. Strong gunship, versatile, well armed and with its distinct shape Kamov 52 will surely prove its effectiveness in the future. Rather strange design with two main rotors and without tail rotor it provides 315 km/h and 545 km of range for its pilot. Even though Kamov design bureau went through difficult time during dissolution of the Soviet Union this helicopter surely proves that Russian weapons industry goes strong on the international market. Amongst all Russian Army received remarkable helicopter.

Eurocopter Tiger

European Union is not simply political and economical community. Strong military industry is being developed to provide armies with quality weapon systems. Amongst them its place hold Eurocopter Tiger, designed to supplement ground troops as a gunship and full-time combat helicopter. Sophisticated and versatile it provides 300 km/h and service range of 800 km. Its armed with single 30mm cannon and assorted air-to-ground and air-to-air missiles which fortify its strength and combat value. Sure a machine to prove its worth in the future.

Mikoyan MiG-35

Mikoyan 35 represents classical and battle-proven MiG design. Excellent maneuverability, strong weaponry, extraordinary capabilities. This multirole fighter sure is crown jewel of years of development. From the first MiG-s like 15,17, and world-famous MiG-21 to the MiG-29 and 35 many lessons of the wars and conflict were learned. This airplane is expensive and good 4++ generation jet fighters. It can reach up to 2.25 Mach and 17,500 meters of height armed with assorted missile systems.

Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II

Airplane that pushes the limit. Old quest for speed, maneuverability, stealth capabilities has had full and strong impact in this airplane design. Sharp lines, in-board weapons and high-tech top electronics: it is good enough to participate in Star Wars. It is a continuation of well proven F-22 Raptor. This airplane sure is a pride of American airplane engineering. With 1.6+ Mach top speed and 18,000 meters top height it is yet to prove its combat effectiveness in the future.

Eurofighter Typhoon

Joint enterprise of European aircraft manufacturers. Has distinctive shape and capabilities, good enough to provide countries of European Union with strong and top-quality jet multirole fighter. 2 Eurojet engines can produce enough power for airplane to reach 2 Mach in speed and 19,800 meters flight ceiling. Carries wide array of missiles and bombs and often participate in air shows and happenings. It is yet to replace older weapon systems and air designs and serve European air safety in the future.

Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor

The F-22 is an air-superiority fighter with improved capability over current Air Force aircraft. From the inception of the battle, the F-22s primary objective will be to establish air superiority through the conduct of counter air operations. The F-22 also has an inherent air-to-surface capability. A combination of improved sensor capability, improved situational awareness, and improved weapons provides first-kill opportunity against the threat.

Sukhoi PAK FA

Future Airborne Complex Frontline Aviation. New design of Sukhoi bureau, already world-wide well known with its fighter and bomber designs. In recent years Russia has taken large steps forward in upgrading and researching new aviation. Some lessons are taken from general idea of stealth aircraft. Armament is internal in bays. This multirole aircraft is intended to replace array of older aircrafts. It can reach 2+ Mach and is armed with currently secret modern avionics.

Five Modern Buildings in Asia

Five Modern Buildings in Asia :)

It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s a … performing arts center? Home to high-tech architectural wonders of the twenty-first century and the postmodern gems of decades past, Asia has more than its fair share of spectacular modern design. Innovative structures that combine the best of art and science dot the skyline across Asia, where experimental architects are given free reign.

Not everyone appreciates some designers’ artistic license—many controversial buildings have been given endearing (or even downright snarky) nicknames that are almost as popular as the buildings themselves. Whether you love ’em or hate ’em, these spectacular structures are totally free to look at and usually pretty cheap to enter, making them ideal spots not to be missed on your next trip.

1. Esplanade-Theaters on the Bay, Singapore
Nickname: The Durian Fruit

Esplanade – Theaters on the Bay is a state-of-the-art performance center located in Esplanade Park, in downtown Singapore. It was completed in 2002 and designed by UK architectural firm DP Architects PTE, which explains its “unique” exterior:

“A secondary sun shading lattice is used with folded sunshades which gradually transform in shape and orientation. The resulting dynamic and ever-changing mesh of dappled sunlight and shadows has given this world class performing arts venue its distinctively Singaporean personality.”

But not everyone is convinced. The merits of the building’s design have been the subject of intense debate in Singapore. Many residents think the design is “too Western” and doesn’t accurately represent Singapore’s vibrant meld of Asian cultures. Others just call the complex downright ugly, saying it looks like Chinese dumplings, copulating aardvarks, or even the infamous (and stinky!) durian fruit.

Even though the exterior may be controversial, the interior of this much-disputed building is pretty remarkable. Inside is a 1,600-seat concert hall, 2,000-seat theater, recital theater, black-box theater, and private event spaces; there are also multiple outdoor performance spaces. Even if you aren’t interested in shelling out for a concert here, make sure to visit the art exhibit space, the shopping mall, and an open-to-the-public library to experience this structure for free.

2. Grand Lisboa, Macau
Nickname: The Pineapple

Macau is the Las Vegas of China, located on a peninsula thirty-seven miles southwest of Hong Kong. Although there are tons of gigantic, glittering casinos/hotels in Macau, the Grand Lisboa stands out even among the other opulent structures. Completed in 2007, the Grand Lisboa is owned by famed Macau businessman (and one of the richest men in the world) Stanley Ho … who isn’t necessarily known for his conservative design choices. The Grand Lisboa’s shape is supposed to look like a lotus leaf resting on a sphere, but many people have likened it to, among another things, a giant pineapple.

The casino has 430 hotel rooms and suites, 268 gaming tables, and 786 slot machines and is the first casino in Macau to offer Texas Hold ’Em poker. Feel like checking out something especially neat? The Star of Stanley Ho, a 218.08 carat diamond, is on permanent display at the casino. The diamond is the largest cushion-shaped, internally flawless D-color diamond in the world!

3. National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing

Nickname: The Egg

Built for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, this incredible domed structure is made of titanium and glass and is surrounded by a man-made lake. Beijing’s performing arts center has been nicknamed “the egg” (we wonder why?), and its spherical design is intended to marry the modern structure with the historic landmarks that surround it. It is located on prime real estate near the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, and visitors enter the building from an underground glass walkway where they can look up at the lake from below.

The building’s estimated cost was just under $400 million, but by the time it was completed, the price tag was around $470 million (meaning each seat in the place is worth around $75,000). Perhaps a bit off budget … but it just might be worth it. The interior of the performance space is covered with an intricate lattice-wood design and the floors are polished marble, creating an ideal acoustic space. Make sure to put this building on your list of things to do while visiting the other tourist spots nearby, and when walking in the corridor into the building, don’t forget to look up!

4. Nakagin Capsule Tower, Tokyo
Nickname: The Lego House

Located in Shimbashi, Tokyo, the Nakagin Capsule Tower was built in 1972 and is credited with being the first “capsule” building actually put into use. Built by Kisho Kurokawa, famed Metabolism architect, each capsule of this immense building was built in a factory and is attached by tension bolts to a central core. The pods themselves (although high-tech in the early 1970s) are now terribly outdated. Each pod apartment comes with all built-in furniture, a bathroom the size of an airplane’s, a TV, a tape player, and a wall-mounted calculator.

Although the Metabolism movement has come and gone, this building stands as a reminder of the beginning of Japan’s obsession with modular living. Today the building is scheduled for demolition with a brand-new, more efficient high rise slated to take its place. Only the architect himself is fighting for the building to stay. According to Architectual Record:

“Kurokawa has pleaded to let the Capsule Tower express one of its original design qualities: flexibility. He suggested ‘unplugging’ each box and replacing it with an updated unit, letting the base towers—which he calls ‘timeless’—remain untouched. Japan’s four major architectural organizations, including the Japan Institute of Architects, support this scheme.”

But worry over asbestos contamination in the building and the immense cost for this project have led the owners of the Capsule Tower to reject Kurokawa’s plea. So if you want to see this ’70s relic, you better make the trip soon.

5. The Baha’i House of Worship, New Delhi
Nickname: The Lotus Temple

This Baha’i House of Worship in New Delhi was completed in 1986 and is the Mother Temple for Baha’i followers in the entire Indian subcontinent. Its delicate lotus shape is made with twenty-seven freestanding marble petals, arranged in groups of three, to form the traditional nine-sided Baha’i structure. The temple can hold an astounding 2,500 people in its white marble center hall.

It’s a good thing the Lotus Temple can hold so many people. From its opening in 1986 until 2002, the temple attracted more visitors than the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal—almost fifty million people in total. If you’re planning a visit to the Lotus Temple, make sure to check and see if it’s a Hindu holiday. On holy days, the temple can draw up to 150,000 people!
